(July 29 2009 New York City, New York)
Lileth Productions, currently in pre-production for the short feature “Crumble”, has announced their Summer Soiree for Patrons of the Arts on August 7th, 2009 which will be an exclusive high profile red carpet event.
Has there ever been a period of life when everything around you seemed like it was falling apart? This is what Film Publicist Renata Lorenc wanted to explore when she wrote the short story “Crumble”. The cutting edge narrative captures the gritty elements that surround a collapsing Manhattan marriage. Ready to transition into the film market as a director, Ms. Lorenc revisited the story she wrote four years ago and decided it was finally time to bring it to fruition. “From being a film publicist for over ten years, I've seen many promising projects not get picked up for distribution or even break even from a financial standpoint. These factors haven't deterred me because this is a passion project that I am approaching solely as an artist with a vision to create and not so much for huge financial gain.” Ms. Lorenc also wanted to make a statement about empowerment of women and exploitation of their sexuality. The films that inspired “Crumble” include “Thelma and Louise”, “Eyes Wide Shut” and “Requiem for a Dream”.
Renata has promoted over 100 independent film premieres in New York, LA and Cannes and is passionate about the art form. Her film affiliations include “Edmund” starring William H Macy, “Dark Matter” starring Meryl Streep, “Great New Wonderful” starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and “Moving McAllister” starring Jon Heder and Rutger Hauer. The journey behind every independent film is always unique and what unanimously unites the filmmakers is the struggle to get their vision executed on film with limited funds. Renata decided to approach filmmaker David Karges with the project. Stated David “I get pitched many scripts to produce but selected Renata’s story because of its raw energy and her willingness to push boundaries”. While the production had an abundance of passion and enthusiasm the funds were scarce. After the initial investors pulled out because of the economic downturn it became the catalyst to produce the "Crumble" Red Carpet Film Fundraiser & Benefit.
The “Crumble” Summer Soiree will be held at Manhattan hotspot Country Club on Friday August 7th, 2009. Country Club is a sophisticated space and high-energy cocktail lounge that combines elements of a classic clubhouse with a nightclub experience. Ms. Lorenc wanted to emphasize “fun and sheik” for guests so her team has put together a Fashion Show with Greg Baron. Greg not only has his own line at Barney’s of NY with such buyers as Julia Roberts and Sarah Jessica Parker, but has been a costume designer for filmmakers such as Todd Haynes. The party will also feature International Jazz sensation The Hipstones all the way from Australia, Live music by the gothic Jazz ensemble “Savage Kings” and beats by DJ Sean Martin & Nikolai Stepan of FreQuencyM playing a progressive/electro/trance combination. Complimentary cocktails sponsored by Saaga Vodka and passed hors d’oeuvres courtesy of Torino Gourmet Kitchen & Caterers will be served including coconut shrimp, beef sate with a spicy peanut sauce, crispy risotto cakes with a sun-dried tomato crème fraiche, mini spinach pies and pistachio-crusted chicken with a cranberry glaze. After enjoying this delectable fare, move onto the next course with tantalizing mouth-watering pastries courtesy of Sugar Mama NYC. High end raffle items include NAVAR New York fashions and accessories, vouchers from hot lower eastside boutique Hillary Flowers Designer Collective, jewelry by Kurilla Designs owned by Thomas Kurilla whose diamond collection is available at Tiffany’s, bold abstract organic sterling silver jewelry by Sultana Aschim, trendsetting jewelry by Isabella Grace Originals, Crazy Shorts, gift certificates from Sugar Mama NYC, and cosmetics by celebrity make-up artist Jerry Lopez who’s worked with Paris Hilton and Donna Karan.
“Crumble” is a gritty, cutting edge drama, delivering a positive message that speaks out against sexual exploitation and drug abuse. A portion of the party’s proceeds will go to the NYC Alliance Against Sexual Assault www.nycagainstrape.org.
Since tickets are selling fast the promoters are encouraging everyone to book in advance as later only private tables ($1000-$2500) will be available. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 on the night if not already sold out. To purchase tickets please go to http://www.rulapr.com/index.php?view=details&id=2:CRUMBLE
Donations are also accepted and will garner screen credit and invitations to the New York and Los Angeles premieres.
